U 749 was launched on 10 June 1943 and was put into service as Italian S 7. Occupied after the Italian surrender and taken over as U 749. It belonged to the 24th and 5th U flotillas. Destroyed on April 4th, 1945 in the Germania shipyard Kiel by American bombers.
