Original radio field postcard fortress La Rochelle 1944
Very rare Kriegsmarine collector's item from World War II
Very good condition. Something poked and a corner kinked. Sent from the enclosed fortress La Rochelle on 10.12.1944. Postmark 13.12.1944.

After the invasion, La Rochelle was encircled and cut off from the outside world. So by radio was the only way to communicate with home. A standstill agreement swept the German commander of La Rochelle, Vice Admiral Schirlitz, and the French negotiator frigate captain Meyer, spared the fortress largely, so that the city was surrendered undamaged with the capitulation.
