Description

Kriegsmarine photographic estate ship Venus of the 26th U-Flotilla ww2.

Very nice photographic estate directly from family property.

If I haven't lost count, there are 79 pictures, partly labelled on the back with the names of the persons depicted. Many beautiful pictures from on board, in the dock, helmet divers, recovery of the practice torpedoes and much more. Of course also convoy and submarine pictures. Unfortunately they roll a bit. Otherwise good condition.

Measures mostly ca. 9 x 13 cm

Top pictures!

The Venus was built in 1930/31 in Norway and was requisitioned by the Kriegsmarine in 1941 after the occupation of Norway and assigned to the 26th U-flotilla in Pillau. There she served as a living quarters and target ship as part of the torpedo gunnery training of the submarine crews. In March 1945, she was damaged during a bombing raid on Hamburg and sank. After the end of the war, she was raised and refitted and continued to sail cruises for a Norwegian shipping company until 1968.

Karl Ritzel was a seaman corporal with a technical career and sailed on supply ships in the Scandinavian region and the Baltic Sea.
